Lopez won the first Pipeline Masters surfing contest
at the Banzai Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu.
Nat
Young is surfing's first former world champion
to have a son, Beau Young, to become a world surfing
champion.
World
tow-surfing champion, Garret Mcnamara, learned
his trade with the Willis Bros. on the North Shore
of Oahu.
Clyde
Aikua was the first surfer to win the Quiksilver
Eddie Aiaku big wave invitational.
Florida
surfer Kelly Slater has more world surfing titles
than any other surfer in surfing history.
Makua
Rothman is, at 18 yrs. old, the record holder
for the youngest person to surf a wave over 50ft.
His wave measured 66ft.

 In
the sport of surfing, here is a list of great surfers
names' that you should know. Although not nearly complete,
this is a partial list, and by no means have we meant
to slight others who have contributed to surfing equally
if not more. This is a list of some of the higher profile
names of surfers who have influenced, contributed and
made an impact on the sport of surfing.
WB Great Surfers Hall of Fame is
dedicated to Duke Paoa Kahanamoku and all other surfers
past, present and future who perpetuate the spirit of
surfing and aloha.
Our list is comprised of surfers from the global surfing
community, both past and present. Surfing magazine has
stated that "the Willis brothers exemplify the
spirit of surfing". We'd like this to be true.
