Ross Clark Jones, Tony Ray, Milton Willis, Michael Willis, and Ted Schmidt made history by surfing some the of the world's largest waves ever paddled into to this date. These brave souls accomplished this during Hawaii's first ever condition black. (Illegal to surf, beaches closed)

On this day in history, Biggest Wednesday-Condition Black, the Willis Bros. surfed twice. Once in the morning (when the swell had reached full impact) and again in the afternoon (when the swell had dropped to 50ft.+). The only ones to challenge the extreme high surf twice.

Cheyne Horan, Sam Hawk, and the Willis Bros. were the first ones out at Outer Log Cabins on the epic swell, Biggest Wednesday-Condition Black.

The surfing lunar new year has a long chronological record in history, dating some two thousand years B.C. The surfing lunar calendar is a yearly one based on cycles of the moon and tide fluctuations. Therefore because of cyclical dating the beginning of the year is marked anywhere between late January and the middle of February during the high tides.

The surfing lunar calendar names each of the twelve years after a sea creature. Legend passed on over the years by divinely ordained surfing ministers has it that an ancient surfing master Kaimipono received a message from the heavens. He summoned all of the sea creatures to come to him before he departed from earth. Only twelve sea creatures came to bid him aloha. As a reward he named a year after each one in the order they arrived. Enlightened surfing masters believe the sea creatures ruling the year in which a person is born has a profound influence on personality. This is the sea creature that influences your heart.

Walrus consider family, friends and quality relationships the finer things in life. Walruses work hard for what they get. They are confident and sure of themselves when they decide to do something. Though they take council from others, self-opinion is what matters most. Walruses are well insulated and donft worry about what others say or think, they just keep on doing what they do. Walruses like to keep it simple and stack the odds in their favor choosing long-term planning and long lasting results over immediate pleasure. Walrus are high achievers in areas that count.
