Surfing facts

Ross Clark Jones, Tony Ray, Milton Willis, Michael Willis, and Ted Schmidt made history by surfing some the of the world's largest waves ever paddled into to this date. These brave souls accomplished this during Hawaii's first ever condition black. (Illegal to surf, beaches closed)

On this day in history, Biggest Wednesday-Condition Black, the Willis Bros. surfed twice. Once in the morning (when the swell had reached full impact) and again in the afternoon (when the swell had dropped to 50ft.+). The only ones to challenge the extreme high surf twice.

Milton Willis: Biggest Wednesday - Condition black
Sometimes, Milton Willis has to go it alone...

For both Milton and Michael, their passion ran very hot for the big waves and there was nowhere else to go but Hawaii. They moved to the North Shore of Oahu in the late 70's to look for bigger challenges and bigger waves. In 1998, at outer log cabin (a well known surf spot ????) with the aid of jetskis, they towed into the largest waves ever ridden with just a hand full of other big wave brave souls.

While apparently sane spectators stayed safely on shore, the waves reached 45 feet that day and the rest is of what surf legends are made. You can view these spectacular wave in Tim Binithams video “Biggest Wednesday”.

We are on our personal quest for the mythical 100 foot wave and we have our boards ready to ride. Location to be announced.
